Overview

This is an immersive and dynamic course that introduces young learners to the world of programming through the versatile C++ language. In this hands-on program, participants will explore the fundamentals of C++ programming, including variables, data types, control structures, functions, and object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts. Through interactive projects and coding challenges, students will develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and computational creativity. They will learn how to design and build their own programs, games, and simulations using the powerful features of C++.

Level Descriptions

Level 1

Level 1: Suitable for primary school students with no prior knowledge of computer programming.
The course primarily uses computer games and classroom activities to learn basic computer knowledge and programming concepts in an interactive and engaging manner. This aims to stimulate students' interest in computer programming and encourage creativity. Through simple computer programming exercises, students will create drawings and gain a sense of achievement and satisfaction, ultimately developing a love for computer programming. The course starts with block-based programming and then introduces keyboard input commands. Concepts covered include introduction to commands, introduction to iterations, introduction to functions, and introduction to modules.
**From Level 2 and above, all commands are entered via keyboard input**

Level 2

Level 2: Suitable for students aged 9 and above, or students who have completed Level 1.
In this course, students will formally delve into the core of computer programming and learn how to apply simple programming to solve real-life problems and challenges. Examples include creating a cartoon program schedule or an automated ordering system for a fast-food restaurant. Through these practical applications and everyday examples, students will come to understand that computer programming is ubiquitous in our lives, leading to a deeper understanding of programming concepts. Topics covered include downloading and installing C++, introduction to events, understanding variables, flow control, and mathematical applications.

Level 3

Level 3: Suitable for students who have completed Level 2.
Building upon the foundation established in Level 2, this course continues to engage students in practical and applicable learning experiences within the context of daily life. For example, students will use computer programming to design a real "digital clock" and a "Tic Tac Toe" game, as well as apply programming to perform mathematical calculations. Through these activities, students will gain a deeper understanding of how computer programming can be applied in everyday life, develop logical thinking skills, and enhance problem-solving abilities. Topics covered include basic input and output, intermediate flow controls, introduction to data structures, introduction to coordinates, and introduction to Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Level 4

Level 4: Suitable for students who have completed Level 3.
In this course, students will apply the knowledge and skills acquired in Levels 2 and 3 to more complex computer games, such as poker games. Additionally, they will learn how to use computers to solve mathematical problems, including finding the least common multiple and the greatest common divisor. Topics covered include intermediate functions, intermediate coordinates, intermediate data structures, more advanced flow controls, and more mathematical applications.

Level 5

Level 5: Suitable for students who have completed Level 4.
Building upon the knowledge and skills acquired in Level 4, this course focuses on applying them to more complex computer games, such as the game of Go (蘋果棋). Additionally, students will learn how to use computers to solve challenging mathematical problems, such as determining whether a natural number is prime using algorithms. Topics covered include intermediate Graphical User Interface (GUI), more advanced coordinates, more advanced data structures, and an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Level 6

Level 6: Suitable for students who have completed Level 5.
This course introduces "Object-Oriented Programming" (OOP) and focuses on designing simple "objects". In OOP, each object can accept data, process data, and communicate data to other objects. Topics covered include an introduction to recursive functions, an introduction to classes and objects, and more mathematical applications.
