Learning Goals
Teach students key English vocabulary for science, technology, engineering, and maths. They will learn words to understand STEM topics better.
Help students use correct English grammar and phrases in STEM contexts. This builds skills for writing and reading accurately.
Improve students’ ability to read and understand simple STEM texts in English. They will grasp instructions, facts, and descriptions.
Support students in writing short, clear sentences using STEM vocabulary. They will record observations and ideas from lessons.
Language of Instruction
We normally teach in English, but we're happy to try and accommodate lessons in Cantonese, Putonghua, Korean, Punjabi, or other languages when possible.
Format
Online (Zoom): Instructions will be provided before the lesson.
Small Classes: Usually one tutor to 2-6 students only.
Level Descriptions
Level 1
Foundations of STEM Vocabulary
- Focus: Learn essential STEM words suitable for the respective year of study (i.e., Primary 1 to 6, respectively).
- Activities: Match key terms to images, read concise labels, and write individual STEM words with purpose.
- Goal: Master a suitable number of foundational STEM terms and use them confidently.
Level 2
Crafting STEM Sentences
- Focus: Construct meaningful sentences with STEM vocabulary.
- Activities: Complete guided sentence exercises, read a number of sentence explanations, and write original phrases.
- Goal: Create and comprehend a suitable number of purposeful STEM sentences.
Level 3
Enriching STEM Vocabulary
- Focus: Expand knowledge with vital STEM terms tailored to the year of study.
- Activities: Categorise words by STEM fields, read engaging sentence texts, and write descriptive sentences.
- Goal: Command essential STEM terms in meaningful contexts.
Level 4
Understanding STEM Directions
- Focus: Interpret clear instructions.
- Activities: Follow written processes, pair directions with visuals, and write concise responses.
- Goal: Accurately read and apply purposeful STEM instructions.
Level 5
Exploring Descriptive STEM Language
- Focus: Enhance descriptions with terms alongside STEM vocabulary.
- Activities: Read sentence accounts of experiments or designs, write sentences to explain observations.
- Goal: Blend STEM terms with descriptive words in precise sentences.
Level 6
Advancing STEM Vocabulary and Comprehension
- Focus: Engage with more challenging STEM words suited to the year of study.
- Activities: Read 7–10 sentence passages, answer focused questions, and write a number of sentences on a STEM concept.
- Goal: Understand and apply a number of significant STEM terms in detailed texts.

Mr. Edwin worked in various multinational companies in Greater China, Hong Kong, and North America (including Silicon Valley, California, USA) in roles such as computer programming, systems analysis, management, and technical support. He also possesses extensive experience in education and training, having served as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Department of Information Systems at City University of Hong Kong, as well as teaching computer and mathematics subjects at secondary schools.
